Q: What are CSNA and NSNA?

A: Both the Colorado Student Nurses Association (CSNA) and the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) are pre-professional associations for nursing students. Involvement in both associations prepares students for involvement in professional associations and leadership positions after graduation. More information about NSNA can be found on the NSNA web site www.nsna.org. CSNA is composed of and governed by nursing students. The Board of Directors are elected at the Fall and Spring CSNA convention. Any member of the NSNA and the CSNA is welcome to run for open positions during our conventions!

Q: What is the difference between CSNA and NSNA?

A: The Colorado Student Nurses Association (CSNA) is the state student nurses association where as the National Student Nurses Association is nationwide. For more information on NSNA click on this NSNA link.

Q: How do I get involved in CSNA and/or NSNA?

A: To become a member you just simply fill out an application and pay the nominal application fee. By becoming a member of the NSNA, Colorado nursing student automatically become a member of the CSNA. Applications are available at www.nsna.org. NSNA Membership is open to Nursing Students in Associate Degree, Diploma, Baccalaureate, generic Masters and generic Doctoral programs preparing students for Registered Nurse licensure, as well as RNs in BSN completion programs.

Q: How much does it cost to become a member of the NSNA?

A: National Student Nurses’ Association Dues are as follows for Colorado students:

-New Member $30.00
- Renewals $40.00
- Two Year Membership $70.00

Q: How do I become a member of the CSNA Board of Directors?

A: If you would like to become a board member of the CSNA, first become a member of the NSNA and the CSNA. Once a member, make sure to register for the CSNA’s semi-annual conventions. These conventions are held every spring and fall. Unique to the CSNA, Board elections are divided between both conventions in order to ease the transition between new and old board members.
